I need advice. Owen is at the wonderful stage of life where the binky is going "bye bye". It has been SO hard trying to take this thing away from him. If any of you have advice on tricks and tactics of taking the binky away, i would much appreciate it. He used to have it only at night and naps but we got tired of whining in the car...and church...and movies...and so on, so we gave in. This time we are for real! He is asleep right now without it but wakes up screaming for it. What to do?? Help friends.

Whatever you do don't give it to him! If he wakes up at night comfort him but don't give in! If he screams and you give him his binky, then he will learn to scream until you give in! My advice- go cold turkey, it will be hard, but worth it! :) Good luck!
Hey, I don't really know you, I'm a friend of Chelsea Hoopes. This might sound weird but I've heard of people using the "binkie fairy" or "tinkerbell" to get rid of the binkie. The story is to tell your child that the binkie fairy is going to come get all their binkies to give to all the babies who don't have one. Then one night you gather them all up and leave your child a little toy or something they've been wanting. I'm not sure how old your child is and this might be useful for and older child. Thankfully I'm not at that stage yet with my daughter. But good luck.
Amber Timms Kindred wanted me to share this advice with you: Cut off the end of the binky so it is "broken" and needs to be thrown away.. it's hard to suck on a binky that the end is cut off of. I did this with Will and it really did work.. except he just became addicted to his sippy cup instead. Good times.
I totally agree with Haley if you want a tatic to use besides "cold turkey". I've heard the cutting off thing works pretty good. Kanyon still has his for naps and bedtime and I'll rock that boat when I feel like I have Scarlett's sleep under control first. ;) Let us know how it goes! That is looming ahead for us soon...
Since I have no expirience in motherhood I say I am so glad it is you and not me! HAHA! BUT I still love ya!
